Connecting Fragments

Edward Summerhays, the October 2018 winner of our Capturing Connections competition photographs the small yet significant moments of human life in his gallery, Connecting Fragments.

Edward considers every one of us to be unique beings. The key experiences and milestones in our lives may be distinct in shaping us, however, not every life changing experience is as momentous as another. These smaller, seemingly unimportant experiences can have a significant impact on who we have become, and will be in the future. Each experience, big or small, deviates our path in one way or another.

When shooting Connecting Fragments, Edward took the approach to remain as invisible as possible, capturing the transparent honesty and vulnerability of this subject. Edwards says, “These fragments that shape us aren’t always the most obvious ones, and they ought to be captured too.”
